Sump Pump Could not Keep Up With Heavy Rains
The sump pump in this Columbus area home could not keep up with the relentless rain. SERVPRO was called and we dispatched a professionally trained crew to extract the wet carpet in the family room and removed the wet pad. Drying equipment was then placed in all affected areas to dry the carpet and structure.
With the arrival of spring and a forecast of rain this week, it’s a good idea to check your sump pump. Faulty sump pumps cause many flooded basements each year.
Here are some common sump pump problems:
- Faulty Float switch
- Power outage - A battery backup system or a generator can be used to help in this situation.
- Frozen discharge line in the winter months
- Overwhelmed pump – Make sure you have the right size pump, sometimes it is necessary to have two sump pumps.
- The Intake can become clogged which prevents the pump from extracting water for your sump pump pit.
Call SERVPRO of Northeast Columbus if your sump pump fails this spring!
